Who is Pixalize

It first started in France.
Raphael and his band (Stain Project), an experimental industrial 4 pieces band, making their own percussions and already playing with tvs and screens on stage (1996). A Band with whom he created and produced one of the first cd-Xtra in Europe 'Burnt' (3 tracks cd audio + CD-Rom with a interactive game).

The Live Visual adventure started 8 years ago in UK, first as a hobby, playing Quicktime video loops at local events in Royal Leamington Spa, during Grind Creative Collective's wild parties in Warwickshire, using his personal computer. Later adding cameras, G4 titaniums, vision mixers, midi controllers and a lot more experience.

It has now become a totally different adventure, as complete control of the man on the machine allows a unique show to happen in harmony with any events and any style.
Raphael uses his musical senses, collected through 5 years of professionnal choir, 7 years of violin and 2 years at the Conservatoire National d'Amiens in Electro-acoustic Music, to enhance the visual effects.

Since its creation in 2000 Pixalize has collaborated with artists from different horizons and style including
the club scene (has worked with well established Djs like Norman Jay, Eric Morillo, Seb Fontaine and more),
poetry events (with the New October Poets including the TATE Britain, The Symphony Hall), Cabarets,
Experimental Live Electronica (with Mu-zic, Venitian Snares and more),
Bands (recently vjayed for Reggae Rockz -attended by about 10 000 people- for the Birmingham Arts fest 2005 involving Steel Pulse, Dawn Penn),
orchestras (Holtz's The planet performed by the Warwick University Orchestra).
Theater
, with 'Mirrorage' or 'News of the Words' with Dreadlockalien and Spoz. And in 2009 he broaded his experience even more, collaborating with Traum (theater played by deaf and hard of hearing people)in Zürich.

With more than 400 installations during the past 9 years, Pixalize has now reached the reputation of exceeding its collaborator's expectations. Building a visual set is like building an instrument which involves camera, videos, cables (!) and screens.

We're talking 'playing visuals', just like a musician would do with his instrument.
